Easton’s College Hill is looking to add a highly visible Outdoor mural to enhance this vibrant neighborhood!
We are looking for Artists across the Lehigh Valley and beyond to bring vibrant public art to a signalized intersection along the primary route to Easton’s northern suburbs.

Who We Are
We are a working group of residents of College Hill interested in the ongoing culture and vibrancy of our neighborhood. Our working group, led by the College Hill Neighborhood Association, includes representatives from the Village on College Hill, local artists, and resident-representatives from the City of Easton and Lafayette College.'
Introduction to the Project
This project seeks to create a highly-visible piece of art on the side of 501 Cattell Street, currently College Hill Café. We hope to follow Easton’s other three neighborhoods by commissioning a mural that evokes the unique culture and sense of place that is College Hill. Our committee, along with public survey, selected 501 Cattell because it is located at a highly-visible, signalized intersection along the primary route to Easton’s northern suburbs.
Our goals for this mural project are:
Returning public art to College Hill in a space that previously had a mural
To celebrate community pride and identity
To infuse the neighborhood with more beauty
As it will be the only painted mural in the neighborhood currently, to create art that beautifies a blank canvas in the neighborhood but which also is evocative of the neighborhood’s diverse culture and history.
Mural Site Location and Specification
The mural site is the south-facing wall of 501 Cattell Street, at the corner of Monroe and Cattell Streets. Approximate dimensions of a rectangular portion of the wall are shown below for reference, but artists may submit proposals that are larger or smaller than the dimensions provided. The wall is composed of painted bricks with substantial sun exposure throughout the day. There is ample free on-street parking near the site. The site will be prepared for painting by the committee. The artist is responsible for sealing their art with a grafiti-resistant sealant, which should be built into their budget.

Artist Criteria
This call is open to all artists, but a strong preference is given for experienced mural artists, or artists who have experience installing outdoor murals using other media. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. The artist must be able to oversee the installation of the mural.
The committee will give preference to artists with familiarity with the Easton Area and College Hill in particular. Although all artists will be considered for this opportunity, the committee will prioritize local artists when choosing among otherwise similarly- competitive proposals. Artists will be responsible for their own general liability insurance and will need to provide evidence of their insurance.

An itemized budget including all costs
Agreeing to attend at least 2 meetings virtually or in-person once selected with the
committee and/or community groups.
Proof of general liability insurance
Selection Process
A working committee composed of at least one local artist and representatives from College Hill Neighborhood Association, the Village on College Hill, Lafayette College, and the City of Easton will review all completed proposals. The building owner and business located in the building will have the opportunity to review the committee’s decision(s), as will the sponsoring organizations. The working committee may request an interview before entering into a final agreement and reserves the right to reject any proposals without penalty at its sole discretion.
The estimated total budget for this project is $5,000-$7,000 including materials, fees, etc. The committee will work to solicit donations for paint the artist requests in order to lower costs after the artist is selected.

Timeline
August 15, 2026: Call for artists closes
Early September 2026: Artist is selected
Late September/October 2026: Mural Painting Occurs
November 1, 2026: Deadline for completed mural
Ownership
The artist will retain ownership of any ideas submitted for consideration until a final selection has been made and a contract is signed with the selected artist. Upon final payment for services, College Hill Neighborhood Association will obtain ownership of artwork produced as a work made for hire as defined by copyright laws of the United States. College Hill Neighborhood Association will be the sole and exclusive owner and copyright proprietor of all rights and title in and to the results of the artist’s services hereunder.
